REPORTS:

[Ref. 1:] CHARLES GARREAU:

French ufologist Charles Garreau often cited this case:

On September 28, 1954, in Chabeuil (Drôme), Mrs. Leboeuf, taking a walk, is in the presence of a being "with a very human figure but very small." It wore a diving-suit, which seemed transparent: one would have said "a kid under cellophane. He did not have arms, or those were stuck to the body." Continuing her account, Mrs. Leboeuf explains then that she saw "a machine rising from the field. It moved away close to the ground..." The gendarmes find the traces left by the machine: a circular surface of 3,50 m approximately of diameter, crushed shrubs and bushes, broken branches. Moreover, the first feet of corn met by the machine at the time of its takeoff were flattened. All these evidence confirm at a 100% Mrs. Leboeuf's account, and attests that she was not victim of hallucination or "daydream."

MULTIPLE SIGHTINGS OF FLYING CIGARS

In the departments of the Rhone, of Isère, Drome and Savoy, many people claim to have seen, these last days, with more or less of clarity, crafts having either a cigar shape, or a disc shape. In the area of Arbresle, one of these witnesses, the director of a Parisian variety theater, even filmed one of these mysterious crafts. So we will know, after development of the film, if it is an optical illusion. Close to Fezin (Isère), a young man is said to have seen a machine having a dome and from where a light comparable with that caused by the combustion of magnesium spouted out in the countryside not far from the ground. In Drome, an inhabitant of Valence Miss Leboeuf, which was having a walk near Chabeuil, claims to have met in a pathway, a being of small size oddly dressed which she first believed to be a scarecrow in Cellophane. Miss Leboeuf hid behind a hedge, terrified. At this point in time she saw a disc from where a whistle emanated rising from a cornfield. A little later the witness and peasants went in the field where, according to them, a circular trace approximately three meters in diameter with corn ears lying and branches broken in edge was clearly distinguished. Other inhabitants of Chabeuil also stated to have seen there a flying saucer evolving above the countryside on the same day.

Valence, december 3, 1954

Report of the interview with Mrs LEBOEUF in Valence.

It was on September 28, 1954. I was in CHABEUIL (a small village located at 14 kilometers east of Valence) and I went to the cemetery to bring flowers there. This cemetery is in the east of the village in a shadowy neighborhood (wood, coppice and culture). I had my black bitch Dolly with me, she was running around nearby. I was in a sunken lane at some distance from the cemetery and I collected blackberries.

I called my bitch Dolly and as she arrived near my, she stopped dead and started to howl madly (at this time I noticed that the dogs of the nearby houses, who were on the rope, were also howling madly). Surprised by the barkings (bizarre and sinister), I raised my head and I saw at 2 meters 50 from me a living being motionless who stares at me (small height, 1 meter to 1 meter 50), I still wonder for how long it had been looking at me like that.

It appeared to be wrapped in a transparent diving-suit from the feet to the head, face almost human (I did not see ears, vision was little fuzzy through the diving-suit), human eyes stary and brilliant, expressive and intelligent. I did not distinguish arms, those being perhaps stuck along the body. I practically did not examine the body of this living being, I especially looked his eyes (its eyes did not cease to look at me).

When I saw it, it approached me, hopping, without being concerned with my bitch who barked at him (the journalists then raised a print resembling a large dog leg with a heel?). Seized with fear, I run away shouting and I hid in a bush (the fear made my teeth snap together). Almost at once, within five meters of me, I saw a machine in the form of saucer of a diameter of four meters approximately resembling a large mechanical spinning top of child, but with the flat lower part, rising above the cornfield. The weather was dull, it had just rained one hour before and this machine had a dark color, a washed out and dull gray. I noticed neither lights nor porthole (from my place, I could at no time to distinguish the machine when it was on the ground). The machine thus rose slowly above the cornfield (same location that where it was landed and I perceived a light humming during this movement, then, when it arrived above the alfalfa field, it bent of 90° (vertical position) and disappeared in the North-eastern direction at a tremendous speed while emitting an odd whistling sound; I did not notice a gyratory movement (a Doctor of CHAMBERY is said to have seen a flying saucer five minutes afterwards, coming from the direction of CHABEUIL, it could thus be the same one.

The people at the cemetery heard the howls of my bitch as well as the whistle of the machine (my husband who was in the aviation and who was in the vicinity also heard this whistle and perfectly realized that it was not a jet). They came and they found me in the bush; I was like paralysed and I could not call.

Several people went on the spot of landing of the saucer a few moments afterwards. They noticed a surface approximately four meters in diameter where the ground and the grass were packed; several corn plants were crushed; the branches of the acacias which were around were like scraped and several were broken, this up to ten meters high approximately. They found the leaves on the ground.

I am neither insane nor timorous and it is takes a lot to make me go emotional. I nevertheless stayed two days in bed with fever (confidentially, following this great emotion, her periods reappeared immediately). Moreover, my bitch Dolly trembled and wept during three consecutive nights. It is only at the end of two days that I informed the Press. I now believe in flying saucers and my husband too.
