SUMMER 1947, DOLORES, REMEDIO, CUBA, A YOUNG WOMAN:

BRIEF SUMMARY OF EVENT AND FOLLOW-UP:

A 1979 ufological book by a Cuban author indicates that Dr. Francisco Jover Jiménez, a historian from the city of Remedios, some time in 1947, was sent by the local townhall to examine a young lady from the Dolores neighbourhood.

The young lady was extremely nervous, she complained that while doing laundry, she saw a large light coming toward her, and land in total silence at a short distance of her.

It was described as an object shaped "like two large plates, when used one to cover the other."

A two meters tall man wearing a bright white suit with a light on his forehead emerged from the object and approached her. With the fingers of one hand extended toward her, he pointed toward the ground and asked or shouted: "Terra, Terra."

The young lady said she fainted to the ground and after regaining her senses, both the strange object and the being had vanished.

NARRATIVES:

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Dolores, Remedios, Cuba, on summer 1947, at an unknown time a woman had to be treated for nervous shock as she reported that while doing some laundry outside her home, she saw a large bright object shaped like two bowls put together land silently and a man about 2 meters tall emerged from the object.

The man wore a shiny white outfit and some type of luminous headgear, he quickly approached the witness and pointing at her and at the ground he yelled something that sounded to her like 'Terra" "Terra"! The witness fainted at this point and when she came to booth the man and the object were gone.

Other independent witnesses thought there had been a "crash" of some sort and remembered that US and Cuban military forces had cordoned off an area and had called for heavy equipment and trucks to come in. Something of an unknown nature was taken from the site.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Dr Sergio Cervera and personal interviews.

He comments that it appears to be a somewhat confused event, with other sources describing short, large headed humanoids. But above description is the most commonly known and accepted and that the possibility of a crash cannot be ruled out.

[Ref. lg1:] LUIS R. GONZALES MANSO:

Luis R. Gonzalez Manso notes in his FirstHumCat catalogue that in 1947, in Remedios, Cuba, a possibly backdated case occurred according to information provided by Dr. Francisco Jover Jiménez, a historian from the city of Remedios:

"I was sent for by the local authorities in the City Hall in order to examine a young lady from the Dolores neighbourhood. The young lady was extremely nervous after complaining of what had befallen her only a short distance away from where she was doing laundry. Engaged in her tasks, she claims having seen a large light coming toward her, issuing from an object shaped like 'two large plates, when used one to cover the other.' The object, according to the young lady, landed without making any noise whatsoever. A normal sized man, standing some two meters tall and wearing a bright white suit with a light on his forehead, emerged from the object and approached her. With the fingers of one hand extended toward her, he pointed toward the ground and asked: 'Terra? Terra?'. The young lady says she fainted to the ground and after regaining her senses, noticed that both the strange object and the being had vanished."

Luis Gonzales indicates that his source is Sebastián Robiou Lamarche, Manifiesto OVNI de Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo y Cuba, 1979, pp. 473-4.

POINTS TO CONSIDER:

Unfortunately the high strangeness account cannot shine by its credibility, since the witness is unique, the account of third party at least, and it apparently surfaced 30 years after having occurred. In 1947, there was of course no notion of ufology investigation to shed light on such reports.
